A reader question: Can Craigslist help sell my house?

Houses for sale on Craiglist

One of my readers recently asked how and if Craigslist would help to sell his house. He wanted to reach potential buyers in areas outside his local area.

Some key things to remember are that you must stay clear of tripping the wire at Craigslist when you post to one or more of the websites. They will automatically detect if you post the same or nearly the same post to one or more websites. To get around this, the best strategy is to create several different posts about your house, and place these different posts on the local sites you think would provide the highest probability of success. You might find my demographic report at http://www.aMillionPlaces.com useful for identifying the CL sites serving the most populous cities, so that you limit your posting efforts to the top 5 or 10 websites.

The main thing is not to create spam on craigslist websites, as either the automatic CL "police" will detect you right when you post the exact duplicate ad, or worse yet, CL users will flag you ad as spam.
